Assange to give public address at Ecuadorian embassy on Sunday


Julian Assange will be giving a public address to supporters at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Sunday afternoon. Ecuador held a meeting of ALBA on Saturday.
It is now two months since Julian Assange entered the Ecuadorian embassy, seeking political asylum.
He was to be extradited by the U.K. government to Sweden for questioning on sex-related crimes, which he denies, and it was feared he would then be sent on to the U.S. on espionage charges relating to the diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks, which have angered and embarrassed the U.S. government... read more.

UK vows to block Assange from leaving the UK (video)


As Ecuador grants political asylum to Julian Assange, and his supporters celebrate, the U.K. stresses that it will block him from leaving the United Kingdom.
Ecuador today made a statement that Assange's request for political asylum has been granted. Ecuador's Foreign Minister, Ricardo Patiño, made the announcement, stressing that the country feels that the whistleblower's fears of being politically persecuted are justified.... read more and watch video.
