Explosion near UN monitors' HQ in Damascus wounds three

A bomb exploded on Wednesday, 10 meters away from the Damas Rose Hotel in Damascus, Syria, where UN monitors are currently headquartered. Three people were injured.

Al Arabiya is reporting that the Free Syrian Army has claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Reuters blog platform and Twitter account hacked

On Friday, Reuters blog platform was hacked with false posts and on Saturday, the @ReutersTech account on Twitter was taken over and renamed @TechMe. False tweets were sent before it was taken down.

There have been two cyber-attacks on Reuters in two days.

Austria’s largest daily photoshops Syria photo for more drama

The top daily newspaper in Austria has been accused of photoshopping an image of Aleppo in Syria, to make it more dramatic.

In the July 28 edition of Die Kronen Zeitung, Austria's largest newspaper, an image was published of the battle-ravaged Syrian city of Aleppo.

WikiLeaks has released the "Syria Files", which reveal embarrassing ties between Syria and various Western entities. This article relates to Selex, a subsidiary of the Italian communications company, Finmeccanica.

Digital Journal reported on the release by WikiLeaks of the "Syria Files" on July 5. This release involves a series of controversial emails and documents that will very embarrassing to both the Syrian government, its opponents and also Western companies with business ties with Syria.

Terrorist group attacks TV Channel in Syria — 7 people dead

Three journalists and four workers at the Syrian al-Ikhbariyia Satellite Channel were killed on Wednesday morning in an attack by an armed group.

The group was targeting the headquarters of the pro-government television station, al-Ikhbariyia, located around 20 kilometers south of the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi has placed the responsibility for killing of seven TV staffers on the EU, Arab and International organizations. He called it “the worst massacre against journalism and the freedom of media.” ... read more.

Turkish military aircraft crashes in Syria

According to media reports, a Turkish military aircraft has crashed in Syria. The aircraft appears to have been shot down and the two pilots have been rescued.

Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen TV is reporting that the plane went down as Syrian air defense opened fire.

US fears new massacre in Syria — possible no-fly zone?

UN chief Ban Ki-Moon has expressed his "deep concern" over the "dangerous intensification of armed violence across Syria" over the past few days.

Clashes between government forces and the opposition are escalating.

Ban's press office has said in a statement, "The bloodshed and fighting must stop at once. The government's intensive military operations, including the shelling of Homs and reportedly other population centers, as well as firing from helicopters on Talbiseh and Rastan, are resulting in heavy civilian casualties and human rights violations."

The BBC published photo of Iraqi dead when reporting on Houla

The recent tragedy in Houla, Syria was horrendous and the BBC published a photo of rows of dead people when reporting the tragedy. One problem, the photo was of Iraqi dead, taken in 2003.

The bloodshed in Houla left at least 90 people dead, including 32 children. A horrific and terrible tragedy.

The BBC was reporting on the incident and posted a photo of "rows of childrens' bodies awaiting burial."

Then the original photographer, Marco di Lauro, saw the image on the BBC and says he nearly "fell off his chair"... read full article.
