Copy of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation sold for $2.1 million


A copy of the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation document, signed by President Abraham Lincoln, has been sold for $2.1 million.
The document, signed by Lincoln during the Civil War, ordered the freeing of slaves. The proclamation provided a legal framework for the emancipation of millions of other slaves as the Union armies advanced. 48 copies of the document were made, and Lincoln signed all of them.... read more.
