No apocalypse is coming — another Mayan calendar has been found

Breathe a sigh of relief. Another Mayan calendar has been found and there is absolutely no mention of December 21, 2012.
Hidden deep in a Guatemala jungle in the 9th-century Maya complex of Xultun, experts have found a previously unknown version of the Mayan calendar. And according to the new find, Earth is going to be around for a very long time.
The ancient inscription that has been discovered is thought to be the oldest Mayan records to be found so far. Archaeologists say that it dates back around 1,200 years, which is at least 600 years older than previous examples found. Wrecked Brazilian ship spilling oil in Antarctica

The "Endless Sea" is trapped in the ice and is spilling fuel. There is no hope of containing damage until October this year, due to the long South Pole winter.
Huffington Post reports that the Brazilian-owned ship capsized and sank in 12 meters of water last month, close to where Chile and Brazil hold navy bases. While the crew was rescued without injury, poor weather prevented them from diving below to check the damage until Wednesday this week.... read full article.

Video update: Sukhoi Superjet-100 crash site in Indonesia

While rescue operations continue at the crash site of the Russian aircraft, 14 bodies have now been found near the wreckage.
The video from a local television channel shows footage of the crash site including what appears to be the aircraft's tail marked with the Sukhoi Superjet-100's logo. Twisted pieces of metal and part of a wing are scattered on the slopes of Mount Salak.
