Kenya bans importation of all GMO foods (video)


In a groundbreaking act, Public Health Minister Beth Mugo of the Kenyan government has advised that Kenya has completely banned the importation of all genetically modified (GMO) food into the country, until exhaustive tests on health effects are complete.

UK withdraws threat to raid Ecuador's London embassy


On Friday, the OAS met and signed a resolution to support Ecuador in both its asylum grant to Julian Assange and the threat to its sovereignty by the U.K. Now the U.K. has withdrawn its threat to raid the London embassy.
On August 25, Digital Journal reported that the Organization of American States had met on Friday to discuss Ecuador's ongoing diplomatic problem with the U.K. At that meeting, OAS members, with the exception of the U.S. and Canada, reaffirmed their “respect of sovereignty” and denounced “the use of force in solving conflicts.” ... read more.

Video: 34 American nations back Ecuador in UK diplomatic spat


34 members of the Organization of American States are backing Ecuador in its diplomatic row with Britain over the granting of asylum to Julian Assange and the perceived threat to the country's sovereignty.
Digital Journal recently reported that there would be a meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS) on August 24, 2012, to discuss the matter of Julian Assange, his asylum and the U.K.'s threats on Ecuador's sovereignty.
Ecuador granted asylum to Assange on August 16, and a diplomatic uproar ensued, with the British Foreign Office threatening to enter the embassy to take Assange. Dirty gold mine depriving Peruvians of clean water



The people of the Peruvian city of Cajamarca have sent a cry for help. They say they only have water for two hours of each day. Some areas have no water for weeks. Protests are met with violence.
Rainforest Rescue (Rettet den Regenwald) received a desperate cry a few days ago from Cajamarca in Peru. “We only have water for two hours each day!”
The people in Cajamarca have been protesting against the extension of Latin America's largest gold mine. The gold mine is destroying their natural water resources and an important headwater stream of the Amazon is also at serious risk. The mining is depriving the people of their water and is contaminating it with cyanide and heavy metals... read more and sign petition.

As Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy goes back on one campaign promise after another, is his government losing credibility with the people of Spain?
As protests continue in Madrid and spread to the rest Spain, combining the demonstration by the coal miners, with general protests over the latest austerity measures, people are starting to question the legitimacy of the newly elected Spanish Government.
