Syrian flight from Moscow to Damascus intercepted by F16s (video)


Turkish F-16 fighter jets intercepted a civilian flight from Moscow to Damascus on Thursday. Now an amateur video made by passengers has been released, showing balaclava-clad Turkish soldiers entering the plane.

Video: Russian girl films herself 'skywalking' among rooftops


Not for the faint of heart, or those with a fear of heights, this brave girl filmed herself walking on a narrow concrete beam, high up among the rooftops of Moscow.
The original video of this young girl, walking on a narrow concrete beam high above the ground, has gone viral. Around 250,000 Internet users have watched her 'tight-rope' walk in the latest of the so-called 'skywalkers' video series from Russia... read more and watch video (if you dare!).

Now here is something completely different. Tanks that can dance and waltz, as seen at the annual military technology show in Moscow.
The scene was the annual military technology show at the Zhukovsky test center, near Moscow in Russia.

Green clouds spotted over Moscow spark apocalypse fears

On the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, fear spread when green clouds were seen in the skies over Moscow. Experts say don't worry, it's only birch pollen.
People in the Russian capital were nervous today on spotting mysterious green clouds in the sky. The scene sparked doomsday theories and fears of a chemical disaster polluting the capital.
According to experts at the Emergencies Ministry the clouds are merely composed of birch pollen.
Moscow Twitter users were not convinced and tweeted alarming messages, such as "Sky has turned completely green in Moscow's south!" and "The factory in Kaluga is destroyed!".... read full article and view video.

Russian protesters to pay fines or sweep the streets


People participating in unlawful or unsanctioned protests in Russia may be forced to pay fines to cover any damages caused or will be subject to days of compulsory community service.
With other countries planning to impose heavy penalties, including jail time on protesters, Russia is taking a softer approach.
A group of MPs in United Russia are proposing the imposition of significantly higher fines for unlawful or unsanctioned rallies, or alternatively making the protesters perform compulsory community service, such as sweeping the streets.
The new bill proposes that organizers of street rallies should pay up to US$3,400 for such violations and individual participants in the protests would pay up to US$340. These amendments to the bill were submitted to State Duma yesterday.... read full article.

Video: Moscow, Russia celebrates Orthodox Easter


Russia celebrated the Orthodox Easter holiday in a major event at the cathedral in Moscow today, together with festivities enjoyed by more than 30,000 Russian Orthodox churches worldwide.
While Christians celebrate Easter on the third day after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, to mark his resurrection, Eastern and Western Christianity use different calendars to base their calculations.
Eastern Europe uses the Julian calendar and Western Europe, the Gregorian calendar, which means that their Easter festivity days differ.
In 2012, Orthodox Easter comes one week after the Western Christian holiday and Russians celebrate the end of Lent by painting eggs and cooking special Easter cakes containing nuts and raisins... read full article and view video.

Video: Gynecologist breaks down and completely smashes auto shop


Moscow - In a case of "off road rage" a Russian gynecologist had a nervous breakdown and drove his car into the auto shop, smashing vehicles as he went.
It appears that the doctor was in the throes of a nervous breakdown. He apparently had a 3-hour wait to get his car repaired and this was just the final straw. He then completely lost it and went on a rampage.
RT reports that the 35-year old doctor crashed into the packed storefront of the Pelican auto dealership in Northern Moscow and then used his Suzuki Grand Vitara as a battering ram to smash into the cars on show.
For 3 minutes, the doctor backed out and smashed into the auto shop repeatedly, destroying the vehicles and other fittings in the shop.... read full article and watch video.
