Police arrest piano-playing break-in artist


A homeless man in Assen, northern Netherlands, had the sudden urge to play the piano and then get some sleep. So he broke into a music shop.

Mass shooting in Dothan, Alabama nightclub leaves 3 dead


In a shooting incident at a Dothan, AL nightclub, three people have died and one is injured. The alleged shooter has been arrested.
The suspect, 22-year-old Ryan Clark Peterson of Enterprise, AL was apparently kicked out of the Teaser's strip club, just before midnight on Thursday for "acting inappropriately with one of the employees." ... read more.

New York Times photojournalist fights brutal NYPD arrest


Robert Stolarik was doing his job, covering the arrest of a 16-year-old girl in the Bronx, when the NYPD brutally assaulted and arrested him.
Stolarik is a credentialed photojournalist and is contracted to work for the New York Times. The 43-year-old photographer has been working for the Times for more than a decade, and is a former war correspondent.
Stolarik was arrested on Saturday night for allegedly obstructing government administration and violently resisting arrest.... read more.

Win in NYPD case against OWS due to video footage

Alexander Arbuckle went on trial for disorderly conduct in the Occupy Wall Street protest early on New Years' Day. However, he won his case due to the video footage of a journalist.
In what Occupy Wall Street are calling a victory of justice, Arbuckle had his day in court (well two days) before being found not guilty.
Over the past few months since Occupy Wall Street began in September 2011, hundreds of protesters have been arrested. However, it was photographer and citizen journalist Alexander Arbuckle's case that came up first for trial.... read full article.

Human rights activist Nabeel Rajab arrested in Bahrain

Nabeel Rajab, one the subjects interviewed in Assange's "The World Tomorrow" to be aired on Tuesday this week, has been arrested in Bahrain.
Recently interviewed by Julian Assange on the upcoming episode of "The World Tomorrow", Nabeel Rajab, a human rights activist has been arrested on his return to Beirut.
According to Sayed Yousif al-Muhafda, a member of the BCHR, "The police arrested him near the plane's door. They said they had an arrest warrant from the public prosecutions office ... he was allowed to call his family after the arrest but they could not see him."
Rajab is the president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights and is the foremost critic of the Al-Khalifa regime in the country, which continues its brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters... read full article.

Spanish nun in court on baby snatching charges


Sister María Gómez Valbuena, known as Sor Maria, is appearing in court in Madrid accused of being at the centre of a ring of baby snatchers, who took children from mothers they considered unsuitable and then sold them to adoptive parents.
The scam is thought to have started in the 1940's and continued right through to the late 1990's. So far, around 1,500 complaints have been filed with police all across Spain from people who believe that their children were sold into adoption.
The 80-year-old nun has been charged specifically with the case of María Luisa Torres. The official charges are for kidnapping and forgery. María Luisa Torres gave birth in 1982 to a little girl, Pilar. The woman claims the nun took her child threatening her that of she did not comply that her other daughter would also be taken as she was guilty of adultery, according to El Pais.... read full article.
