Pretoria nursery school teacher fined for 19 kids in tiny car
A nursery school teacher in Pretoria, South Africa was stopped and fined by police, for cramming 19 preschool children into a small hatch-back car.
Last week, Melanie Minnie, a teacher at Rietfontein Nursery School in Pretoria, decided to take the children in her care on an outing.
Police were alerted by a concerned citizen, who first spotted Minnie parking at a local shopping center unloading 12 children from her car.

'Yes on 37' new advert — Your child & Monsanto's 'Pesticide Corn'
The 'Yes to 37' campaign has produced another advertising video, which asks whether your children are eating Monsanto's 'Pesticide Corn'.
A new research study recently raised questions about the health risks of Monsanto's genetically engineered corn.

Israeli vets break the silence on abuse of Palestinian children
Breaking the Silence is an organization formed in 2004, made up of Israeli army veterans. On Saturday, they released a report to the international media on the abuse of Palestinian children.
According to the report, "Breaking the Silence is an organization of Israeli veterans who served during the Second Intifada, beginning in 2000."
"The organization aims to make public the everyday life routine as it exists in the Occupied Territories, a reality that remains voiceless in the media, and to serve as an alternative information conduit for the public at large about the goings-on in the State of Israel’s ‘backyard’." ... read more and watch video statements.

Thousands protest Chinese patriotism classes in Hong Kong
Tens of thousands of students, teachers and parents were out on the streets in Hong Kong on Sunday, protesting against Chinese patriotism classes.
The public and pro-democracy activists say that these classes will brainwash children into supporting China's Communist Party.

NATO apologizes for killing 18 civilians in Afghan airstrike
The deadly airstrike in Afghanistan's Logar province took the lives of 18 civilians, including children. NATO now apologizes for the attack.
Digital Journal reported yesterday on the deaths of five women, seven children and six men in the Logar Province of Afghanistan. At the time there was mixed reporting, with Afghanistan stating that civilians had been killed, and NATO saying they merely took out Taliban militants and slightly wounded two civilians.

Video: Children in jail - lost childhood in the U.S.A.
These days in the U.S.A., often children as young as 7 years old can be tried as adults and incarcerated in an adult prison. Even though these children are still not old enough to drink, vote or drive, they can still be tried and convicted as adults.
In the video, LaShon Beamon of the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services says: “When you hold a youth accountable in the same manner and fashion in which you hold an adult, it's just not right and it's not fair.”A further interview is with Michael Kemp, who was jailed for the first time at 12-years-old. He was incarcerated in Oak Hill Juvenile Correctional Faciity outside Washington D.C.“Oak Hill it wasn't designed to rehabilitate you, it was designed for punishment.
