Video: Julian Assange addresses the UN General Assembly


Assange, founder of WikiLeaks addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday evening, in an event called "Strengthening Human Rights."
Assange spoke directly via a video link from the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he has been holed up since June this year, firstly seeking and finally receiving political asylum from that country.
The "Strengthening Human Rights" event was hosted by Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño, and this event gave Assange a platform to draw attention to his case and the importance of revealing the truth.... read more and watch video.

'The World Tomorrow' — Ep 3: Assange & Tunisian president (video)

Episode 3 of the controversial talk show series by Julian Assange features an interview with the current president of Tunisia, President Moncef Marzouki.
The infamous interview show hosted by Julian Assange continues this week with Assange speaking to Tunisia's first post-revolution leader. Discussion is on the West's double-standards in protecting human rights.
Tunisia is where the Arab Spring originated and their revolution gave impetus to people in other Arab countries to protest for democracy, freedom and their basic human rights.
It has been said that the final straw in the country was the release by WikiLeaks of diplomatic cables describing the past President and his family as a mafia turning the country into a police state... read full article and view video.

Muslim American claims detention and torture by FBI


Naturalized U.S. citizen Yonas Fikre claims that he was detained in the United Arab Emirates last year and was tortured by FBI agents.
The Muslim American stated that he was beaten, kept in solitary confinement for over 3 months and threatened with death, before being released. He claims he was charged in connection with a terror plot in Portland, Oregon.
Fikre's family is Eritrean and moved to the U.S. when Fikre was 12. He then moved to Portland in 2006.
According to AP, Fikre states that his interrogators usually came in the morning to his concrete cell. As he was blindfolded, he only caught glimpses of their shoes.  He states that they beat the soles of his feet with hoses and sticks.... read full article and view video interview.
