Iran finds Reuters guilty of propaganda about female ninjas



A jury in Tehran has found the news agency Reuters "guilty of propagating against the Islamic Republic and disseminating false information to disturb public opinion" for running a story titled, "Thousands of female Ninjas train as Iran's assassins."
The story was run in March 2012. Reuters subsequently corrected the story, after the martial arts club where the video was filmed made a complaint, and the news agency apologized for the error. The story's headline was then corrected to read "Three thousand women Ninjas train in Iran".... read more and watch video of ninjas.

'Innocence of Muslims' protests spread further in Middle East


Protests and outrage are now spreading to Lebanon and Iran, and continue in Yemen and Egypt, over the film "Innocence of Muslims", released on YouTube, which insults the Prophet Mohammed.

If Israel attacks Iran, US bases in Middle East will be targeted


Lebanon's Iranian-backed militant group, Hezbollah, stated on Monday that Iran could hit U.S. bases in the Middle East, should Israel attack its nuclear facilities.
Even if U.S. forces play no role in an attack on Iran, the Hezbollah leader says U.S. bases could be attacked.

Top general comments on possible Israel-on-Iran unilateral strike


Speaking of Israel's threat to attack Iran, General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters on Thursday, “I don't want to be complicit if they [Israel] choose to do it.”
General Dempsey is the highest ranking officer in the U.S. military and is currently in London, U.K, serving as head of the U.S. delegation at the Paralympic Games.

Khamenei: Iran will not develop nuclear weapons


At a gathering of leaders of developing countries in Tehran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated that Iran will never develop a nuclear bomb, but will continue the pursuit of peaceful nuclear energy.
Khamenei was speaking at a summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), attended by leaders and delegates from 50 countries.

Sesame Street character tells Israelis prepare for war with Iran


A new emergency brochure doing the rounds in Israel instructs residents to prepare for war, should Tel Aviv conduct a military strike on Iran. The face on the document is Moishe Oofnik, Israel's version of Oscar the Grouch.
In Israel's co-production of the well known children's program, Sesame Street, Moishe Oofnik is the resident pessimist in "Rechov Sumsum."

Northern Iran hit by two earthquakes in succession


The north of Iran has been hit by two earthquakes on Saturday, one magnitude 6.3 and the other 6.4. Aftershocks continue to rock the area.  Update: at least 87 people are dead and 600 are injured.
According to U.S. Geological Survey, the 6.4 tremor, at a depth of 9.9 km (6.2 miles), hit 12 miles from the town of Ahar in East Azerbaijan province, at 12:23:17 UTC.
The magnitude 6.3 quake hit 19 miles from Ahar, at a depth of 9.8 km (6.1 miles) shortly afterwards, at 12:34:35 UTC.... read more.

Iran government offices logging off the Internet


Iran is planning to move the country's key ministries away from the World Wide Web. Tehran states that the Internet is "untrustworthy" and the country is planning a domestic intranet.
This action will be the first phase in a planned Iranian project, which would effectively replace the Internet with a domestic intranet. The Iranian Minister of Communication and Technology, Reza Taqipour, announced earlier this year that the new system will be operational in around 18 months... read more.

Video: 'Attack on Iran after Syria falls major goal of the West'

Iran drafts bill to close Strait of Hormuz


Iran is planning to close the Strait of Hormuz to oil tankers traveling to countries supporting economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
The EU embargo against Iran went into effect on July 1. Video: Oil sanctions only hurting EU — Iran doing just fine


As at July 1, the EU embargo on Iranian oil is in place. The sanctions are aimed at pressurizing Iran to curb its nuclear program.
Digital Journal reported on June 26 that the Iran oil embargo would start on July 1.
According to Iran, these sanctions are not really a problem, as the country has been stockpiling money and goods as a buffer.

Iran warns: If Israel attacks, Israel will be destroyed


Negotiations between world powers and Iran wrapped up in Moscow with no resolution, and a high-ranking Iranian general has sent a strong warning to Israel on possible attacks.

Iran space center 80% complete


Not to be left behind in the space race, Iran has almost completed its new space center. This will be used to launch satellites made by Iran and other Muslim nations.
The country´s defense minister has advised that the new space center is 80% complete.

Pentagon's backup plan places 100's of Tomahawks near Iran

While Iran continues to deny that it is developing nuclear weapons, Washington is still concerned and has now deployed approximately 430 Tomahawk missiles in the Persian Gulf.
U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has reported that their plan for Iran "will be successful" according to CNN's Wolf Blitzer.
In an interview between Blitzer and Panetta, it was advised that Washington has not yet dropped its "all options stance" on Iran. The Pentagon still fears that Tehran may be building nuclear weapons.
Panetta said: “We are prepared with all options on the table if we have to respond," and added "there are plans to deal with Iran if the country does not give up its nuclear ambitions. Iran begins cloning U.S. drone ― reverse engineering complete

Iran announced in December 2011 that they had successfully captured the RQ-170 U.S. spy drone that had invaded their airspace. It seems they have been playing with it ever since and have now succeeded in making a clone.

While the U.S. thought it had crashed, the Iranian military had apparently hacked the drone's control system and brought it down safely.

Some time ago, Iran made a copy of the clone as a simple toy and sent it to the U.S. in a joking response to demands to hand over the aircraft.

Media in Tehran now says that they have completed reverse-engineering the drone and have begun building their own.... read full article.
