Video: GetUp! exclusive interview with Julian Assange
GetUp! is an independent movement to build a progressive Australia and bring participation back into the country's democracy. They support human rights, Julian Assange and WikiLeaks.
GetUp! interviewed Assange, founder and editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks, at the Ecuadorian embassy in London in September and have now released the interview as a video.
This was the first face-to-face Australian interview with Assange since he sought asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy. Many GetUp members had apparently emailed questions that they wanted Assange to answer, and these questions were put to him during the interview... read more and watch video.

Video: RT interviews Kristinn Hrafnsson, spokesman for WikiLeaks
WikiLeaks spokesman, Kristinn Hrafnsson, says the US naming Julian Assange and WikiLeaks as an enemy of the state, will see him treated as a terrorist if extradited there.
Kristinn Hrafnsson attended the UN General Assembly, and was available for questioning in the US, after Julian Assange spoke to the assembly via satellite video link.
On September 26, WikiLeaks released an official internal document from the US Military that refers to Assange and WikiLeaks as the "enemy". The document is from an internal investigation in the US Air Force, released under the Freedom of Information Act. Assange is still holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, and whilst Ecuador has granted him diplomatic asylum on the grounds of political persecution, he is unable to leave, as the U.K. will not grant him safe passage out of the country.

UK police wish to arrest Assange for breaking his bail conditions
By staying overnight at the Ecuadorian Embassy, Assange has broken his bail conditions and is subject to arrest, and RT interviews Assange's mother on her feelings about the extradition.
While Assange has taken refuge at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, United Kingdom, the police are apparently ready to arrest him for breaching his bail conditions.

Video: Mumia Abu-Jamal speaks from prison — life after death row
Democracy Now recently had an exclusive interview with Mumia Abu-Jamal, convicted of the killing of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner.
Abu-Jamal has been in jail for decades and last year the Third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals set aside his death sentence. They found that jurors in the trial were given confusing instructions that encouraged them to choose the death penalty rather than a life sentence. Digital Journal reported on the change of sentence in December 2011.
Mumia Abu-Jamal is still fighting to win his release from prison. There are allegations of judicial misconduct and racial bias in his court case.
A movement called "We want freedom" has for a long time argued racism by the prosecutors and trial judge in the court case that led to Abu-Jamal's conviction.

presidential elections, says if elected, he wants France out of the EU
bloc.
The French people are off to the polls today for the presidential elections with 5 candidates leading the polls. Current President Nicolas Sarkozy, the Socialist Party's Francois Hollande, the National Front's Marine Le Pen, Jean-Luc Melenchon of the Left Front and Democratic Movement leader Francois Bayrou are ahead in the race according to opinion polls on Friday.
However, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, who has formed the party "Arise the Republic", is still hopeful that he might get through.
